Fighting for Fiscal Responsibility

I'm gratified to live in the greatest state, and the greatest nation, in the world. However, as a Maryland citizen, I'm concerned about the direction the state of Maryland is heading. I'm concerned about the fact that Martin O'Malley and the General Assembly are taxing MD citizens and businesses out of the state, and that we're facing huge budget deficits. Martin O'Malley and the General Assembly have outspent revenues since 2006 even after hefty tax increases were implemented in 2008. The state currently has a budget deficit of approximately $800MM with projections that this will grow to $1.6B by 2012. This fiscal and budgetary irresponsibility concerns me.

In fact, I am so concerned that I've decided to do something about it and run for the Maryland State Senate seat in District #13 in the upcoming 2010 November election.

If elected I will focus on bringing fiscal and budgetary responsibility to Annapolis.

  • I understand that in order to raise revenue we need to stimulate economic growth and retain the investor class.

  • I understand that an excessive tax burden coupled with increased government spending stifles economic growth, unfairly penalizes small businesses, creates inefficiencies and ultimately crowds out wise investment.

  • I will focus on ensuring that Maryland schools improve and that Howard County schools remain among the best in the nation.

  • I will work hard to lift or minimize regulations that hamper Maryland's entrepreneurs.

  • I will prevent the creation and expansion of hidden taxes like speed cameras that provide no added safety but create a revenue stream for fiscally irresponsible politicians.

  • I will fight for these principles because free-market and limited government policies undergird our ability to attract and retain good private sector jobs.

  • Cutting taxes, providing firms with more flexibility, eliminating government red tape, and promoting Maryland as a great home for companies will bring more jobs and revenues to the state. It will also be important to work across the aisle in a business-like manner to unite the private sector with the public sector in this effort.

  • I will work to reach out to current Maryland business owners to form state/business alliances to facilitate a job creation environment and seek to ensure that all new legislation is assessed for its impact on the State's business climate.

  • I'm passionate about this upcoming election and need your help and support. Please register and let me know what issues you are concerned about. Working together we can bring 'Bring Fiscal Responsibility to Annapolis'. Read more about who I am and my ideas for moving Maryland forward..
