Fighting for Fiscal Responsibility

My name is Kyle Lorton, and I am concerned about the direction the state of Maryland is heading. I believe that the General Assembly is taxing citizens and businesses out of the state. I have decided to do something about it and run for the Maryland State Senate in District 13. In order to win the General Election, you need a candidate who has garnered support from all voters. I am that candidate, as I have knocked on over 15,000 doors in the sweltering heat, pouring rain, and in the Blizzard of 2010 to get to know the concerns of District 13 constituents.

I have enjoyed getting to know my neighbors in District 13, and my goal if I am elected your State Senator will be to make Maryland more business-friendly to help create jobs. I stand ready to work for you as State Senator for District 13 and bring necessary reforms to Maryland.

I will fight to lower an excessive tax burden that allows and even encourages increased government spending, stifles economic growth, penalizes small businesses, creates inefficiencies and discourages wise investment.

I will focus on improving all of our schools and ensuring that local schools remain among the best in the nation.

I will work hard to lift or minimize regulations that hamper Maryland's entrepreneurs.

I will work to provide firms with more flexibility, eliminate government red tape, and promote Maryland as a cost-effective location for companies in order to bring more jobs and revenues to the state. It will also be important to work across the aisle to unite the private sector with the public sector in this effort.

I will reach out to Maryland business owners to ensure that all new legislation is assessed for its impact on the State's business climate, an environment that must be conducive to creating jobs.

I will not compromise on principle but I am open to finding compromise when it makes sense and is in the best interest of the residents of Maryland. I will work with anyone who will work with me.
